Frequently Asked Questions

SIL is a service that provides support to people with disabilities to help them live as independently as possible. It includes assistance with daily tasks like personal care, household management, and skill development while living in a shared or individual home.

Participants with an NDIS plan that includes funding for Supported Independent Living may be eligible. SIL is designed for individuals who need ongoing assistance to live independently.

SIL services offer 24/7 support tailored to each participant’s needs. This may include help with cooking, cleaning, personal care, medication management, social activities, and skill-building to foster independence.

While we try to accommodate your preferences, housemates are usually determined based on compatibility, support needs, and available vacancies. We work with you to find the best living situation that promotes comfort and independence.

Yes, if you live in your own home and meet the eligibility criteria, SIL services can be provided to help you maintain your independence in your current living arrangement.

SIL is focused on providing day-to-day support to help participants live independently, while other accommodation options like Short-Term Accommodation (STA) or Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA) are for temporary stays. SIL is designed for long-term living arrangements.

To apply for SIL, you’ll need to work with your NDIS planner to include SIL funding in your plan. Once approved, we can help you find suitable accommodation and arrange the support you need.

SIL funding from the NDIS typically covers the support services you receive. However, it does not cover rent, utilities, or food, which are additional living expenses.

If your needs change, we will adjust your support plan to ensure it continues to meet your goals and preferences. You can also request a plan review through the NDIS to reassess your SIL funding.

Absolutely! SIL is about helping you live independently, which includes supporting you in participating in community activities, social events, work, or education.
